4 days to the New Year

New resolutions anyone????

  1. I have a bunch. I'm still working on my 101 goals in 1001 days (about two years to go).

I gave up soda in 2010. I'm mostly amazed that I lasted this long (362 days!), so it won't continue into the new year, but I do think my soda consumption will be significantly less than before.

Most of my 101 in 1001 goals involve baking at least once a month, making a crock pot meal at least once at month, taking a bath (not being clean, actually taking a BATH) at least twice a month, plus a bunch of adventurous things.

I am looking for a new shampoo. My Lush bar and, more recently, Burt's Bees shampoo are not working so well with the hard water in New Orleans. I've been having to wash my hair with BOTTLED water which is ridiculous. So I'm looking for something else to use that is still SLS free. I spent a while looking through Ulta today with very little luck. I may try a Lush liquid, although I'm not sure how many are SLS-free.

I suppose it's also a health note to say that I want to work out at least four times a week and lose about 25 pounds in the next year. I've lost 10 since moving to NOLA, so that should be do-able.

  2. Have you tried Aubrey's Megan? Or just a bit of baking soda solution followed by a natural shampoo? I am swimming Thursday (hopefully!!) and am testing out a new combination. I shall report.

One of my resolutions is to eat more vegetables. I got (on sale!) a vegi soup mix that you add water and spices to and then simmer for an hour. It has many split peas but no beans so I think I can handle it. I made it once and didn't put enough spices in it. I was still able to choke down several bowls. It's good that there are no big beans because I can swallow it without chewing. Also, the first time I made 1 cup dry mix with 4 cups liquid. Too much to eat, even over several days. Soon I'm going to make 1/2 cup dry and use more spices. I hope to be on my way!

As for exercise, I'm hoping to get my legs into slightly better shape for the summer. There were several nights that I joined in tag, and although I caught those kids my legs were sore for a LONG time afterwards. Next summer I will run them down and feel great afterwards! Haha, well that's the plan.

You are doing really well, Megan. I'm impressed that you were able to work out so much during the winter.
